Reduction of raw materials used in the Poste Italiane Group’s offers to its customers

The Group, in line with its commitment to sustainable development, has initiated a series of projects aimed at reducing the consumption of raw materials used in the services offered to its retail and business customers, which are outlined below.

Contracts - Dematerialisation of documents (paper reduction)

The Poste Italiane Group has launched an initiative to reduce the use of paper at Post Offices and to customers, providing for the sending to the customer, in electronic format only, of the forms for Personal Data Variation, FEA Membership, Privacy Consent and Poste.it registration (identification kit), as well as the copy of the loan subscription.

Logistics - Reducing plastics in the business offer

In line with its commitment to sustainable development, the Group promotes a more conscious use of plastics by reducing the use of virgin raw materials, promoting waste reduction through reuse and supporting sustainable behaviour by consumers and sellers. This includes the distribution of packaging made of 60% recycled, recyclable and reusable material, which guarantees the same protection standards as traditional solutions. These types of envelopes can be purchased by business customers for their bulk shipments or requested by end users in post offices for boxless shipments within agreements with large customer platforms.

Logistics - 100% green and plastic-free packaging for retail and small business offerings

In 2025, a new range of packaging (2 formats of envelopes and 4 of boxes) made of 100% recycled and recyclable cardboard was launched, initially distributed in more than 4,000 Post Offices in a version dedicated to the 2026 Milan Cortina Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. The new envelopes and boxes feature minimal graphics, use a limited amount of inks and are Forest Stewardship Council® certified, guaranteeing responsible management of natural resources. By the spring of 2026, the Poste Italiane Group will introduce another range of packaging that will have the same characteristics as the previous one, both in terms of size and fully recycled material, with graphics entirely focused on the concept of 100% recycled material. The new offer will be available in all Post Offices in Italy.

Payments - Sustainable Cards Project

In line with the commitment to use recyclable materials, part of the payment card requirement was replaced by cards of vegetable origin.
The replacement of traditional payment cards continues, which takes place at their natural expiry to avoid collecting any that are still valid, with cards made of sustainable materials, renewable biomass and recycled plastic from the oceans, such as the new Postepay Green, which is made of environmentally sustainable material and 82% of which is composed of polylactic acid of organic origin.

Payments - Initiatives to increase contactless transactions

Consistent with the ESG objectives of reducing its environmental footprint and transitioning to the “cashless society”, the Poste Italiane Group has launched initiatives of a mainly commercial and relational nature, aimed at promoting the use of contactless payment instruments among customers. The activities, carried out through information, awareness-raising and customised support to customers (e.g. DEM and push notifications), contributed to increasing the adoption of digital payments. These actions in 2025 resulted in the significant achievement of 1.85 billion contactless transactions.
